Milestones Homoeopathy ~ General Info & Prices Contents: Introduction Homoeopathy is a gentle, effective and scientific system of medicine which assists the natural ability of the body to heal itself. Unlike conventional medicine there are no side-effects, as no chemical reaction takes place. It is safe, effective and treats the whole person not just the symptoms. Your first appointment will last for approximately one hour. Follow-up appointments can be from four to eight weeks apart to begin with and last half an hour. The same amount of time is needed for children. however small. In order to find the right remedy for your individual needs, you will be asked about your present symptoms along with a detailed medical history. Unusual questions will be asked about food desires, sleep patterns and medical history of your immediate family. Everything you say will of course be treated in the strictest confidence.
Cost of remedies is included in the consultation fee apart from Liquid remedies. These prices are shown further on. This is a subject where not all Homoeopaths share the same point of view. Below is a list of generally recognized antidotes which are known to interfere with, or antidote the action of the remedy. At the start of the treatment it is beneficial to make note of the following:
Homoeopathic remedies come in pill/tablet or tincture (liquid) form. Pills need to dissolve in the mouth and nothing else should be taken for 10/15 minutes before or after, including food, drink, toothpaste or cigarettes. The body's response to a remedy make take one of several forms. 'Spring Cleaning' - this may take the form of increased catarrh, slight diarrhoea, increased urination or skin eruptions. Or you may experience the return of old symptoms that you may have forgotten or felt you had been cured. All this is perfectly natural and should not be interfered with. Discharges and eruptions, although unpleaseant, are the body's way of removing disease. These reactions are considered a positive sign. Remedies should never be touched by hand. Tip the pill straight from the packet into the mouth. Store remedies in a cool dark place away from smells or strong light. Keep them in the packet in which you receive them. Never re-use a discarded packet for another remedy. Never let remedies pass through an X-ray machine (airports) or leave them on or near electrical appliances. Appointments can be cancelled with 48 hours prior notice. After that, cancelled or missed appointments will be charged at the full consultation fee. Messages can be left on my answering machine which is checked several times a day. Your call will be dealt with as quickly as possible. To save time, please give details regarding symptoms, name and phone number. There will be a charge for telephone consultations other than those appertaining to current treatment. During homoeopathic treatment you mat experience acute illness such as sore throats, coughs, colds and 'flus'. Please speak to your homoeopath before taking any medication, either conventional or homoeopathic. In order to make treating acute conditions over the phone quicker and easier, it is advisable to have a supply of First Aid remedies at home. These are available from my practice. Advice will be given as to which remedies would be most suitable for you and your family.
